Rain is a Blessing

Brainstorm what rain does for us

  • helps plants to live
  • helps animals to live
  • used in factories and industries
  • i can drink water
  • it grows flowers
  • rain feeds rivers and oceans.
  • rain makes dead valley alive
  • rain cools us down
  • rain goes into the earth

There are so much blessings that Allah gives to us in the form of rain.

Az Zumar 39: 21

See you not, that Allâh sends down water (rain) from the sky, and causes it to penetrate the earth, (and then makes it to spring up) as water-springs and afterward thereby produces crops of different colours, and afterward they wither and you see them turn yellow, then He makes them dry and broken pieces. Verily, in this, is a Reminder for men of understanding.

Have they not seen how We drive water to the dry land that has no any vegetation, and therewith bring forth crops providing food for their cattle and themselves? Will they not then see?

Abasa 80: 24-27

Then let man look at his food, And We split the earth in clefts, And We cause therein the grain to grow,

ALHAMDULILLAH

Water Cycle : Water goes into the earth

When the rain falls it may
1. become puddle
2. Goes into the river
3. Used by us
4. Goes back into the ocean
5. Absorbed by the earth

Allah makes the water absorbed by the earth to stop at certain level.

Al Mulk 67: 30
Say (O Muhammad SAW): “Tell me! If (all) your water were to sink away, who then can supply you with flowing (spring) water?”

Al Mu’minoon 23: 18
And We sent down from the sky water (rain) in (due) measure, and We gave it lodging in the earth, and verily, We are Able to take it away.

We talked about water table. This is an easy to read article explaining about water table. HERE.

When the pressure contained in the space of water table is high, the water comes out of the earth as spring, fountain and river. Subhanallah!

.We looked at diagrams. And pointed out that Allah created the impermeable rock so water does not get lost into the earth but rather very accessible to us. We talked about how people can access the water by making well.

We also talked that human are using water table alot especially in countries with limited water resources.

Let us take heed of Allah’s warning that if Allah wants, He can take the water table away in any way He sees fits.

Water Cycle : Precipitation

More and more condensation process will occur and more water droplets will be collected.

And the cloud will get heavier.

And by the will of Allah, it rains or snows.

Al Aaraf 7: 57
And it is He Who sends the winds as heralds of glad tidings, going before His Mercy (rain). Till when they have carried a heavy-laden cloud, We drive it to a land that is dead, then We cause water (rain) to descend thereon. Then We produce every kind of fruit therewith. Similarly, We shall raise up the dead, so that you may remember or take heed.

Do you notice that rain come down in drops and does not fall like waterfall would? If rain comes down like waterfall, it will damage lots o things.

Ar Rum 30:48
Allâh is He Who sends the winds, so they raise clouds, and spread them along the sky as He wills, and then break them into fragments, until you see rain drops come forth from their midst! Then when He has made them fall on whom of His slaves as He wills, lo! they rejoice!

Praises to Allah for all His blessings.

Water Cycle : Condensation

The water vapour that rises due to evaporation reach a cool place.

This condenses into water droplets. And water droplets turn into cloud.

Points to watch out : Do you notice that as you go further up like climbing the mountain, it gets colder. Whereas you are actually getting nearer to the sun.

The wind then blows the clouds to where Allah wills.

Are we counting our blessings yet?

Water Cycle

It was a two weeks school holiday which are done now. :(.

For this school break, we covered the topic of water cycle.

We talked about the process.

Ocean water (and any water) evaporated by the sun – turn to vapour – will rise up to the air – until reach a cool level – condense – turn into water droplet and form a cloud – the wind blows the cloud – meanwhile evaporation contine to happen and more water vapour are formed – clouds get bigger – when it becomes heavy – precipitation. it will pour down as rain – some goes to river, some fall on us watering the plants and such, some go back to the ocean, some goes into the earth.

In general this is our exaggerated water cycle model.

There’s the cool sun on the left. Clouds getting bigger. Rain falling over land giving life to the world by the will of Allah.

The Last Ten Nights

I think we will continue this for each Ramadhan.

We reread our lapbook again. This time looking at their notes on the Laylatul Qadr. Since we are now in the midst of the last ten nights of Ramadhan. Subhanallah! Time really fast.

We also read the children’s book, “The Night of Decree – Shazia Nazlee”

We added a few more points for the laylatul Qadr section. That is the emphasis of dua’. When we last went for umrah, we brainstormed ideas on dua’s that we can make. Subhanallah! I found it helpful, when we have make a list and sectioning them into categories. This Insya Allah help us (them also) focus on the so many things that we can ask from Allah. Indeed as in the hadith

Abu Huraira: Make Dua and be assured of being answered, and know that Allah does not answer a Dua from a careless heart which is not concentrating (Tirmidhi).

Insya Allah, we want to try our best to concentrate on what we want to ask from Allah. Lest it become a mere routine. Said without meaning it.

Anyway, you can find our list of dua’s in this document. In page 12, Insya Allah.

We modified it to suit the time now and added a few more dua’s.

May Allah guide all of us to raise our children as the Muttaqun.

Ramadhan Kareem

Alhamdulillah the children have been enjoying their fasting so far. Z who is five is the only one not fasting but refuse to eat heavier meals and only resort to toasts and biscuits. He wants to eat hevaier meals with his brother and sister. 🙂

We made a revision on our ramadhan lapbook. Indeed it is a very good quick reference for the children. We shall visit the lapbook again before the last ten days of Ramadhan, Insya Allah.

The children added a few more points verbally especially on the good deeds we can during Ramadhan.

I introduced a checklist of deeds as a reminder of what they can do during ramadhann. I included especially the sunnah acts that they have learned throughout the year. H had a longer list which includes the nawafil prayers that I am encouraging him to do.
