Islam is Easy

From a few weeks ago, I was using this book to read up simple hadith to the littler ones. The book is published by Perniagaan jahabersa

We are on the second hadith

The religion (Islam) is easy.

We looked at the arabic word

religion – الدين

easy -يسر

We highlighted the verses from surah Inshirah and surah lail

There are the words يسر in it. Even though the spelling seems different (because of grammar rules). That is why it is best to learn the arabic words in the arabic letters itself.

Also take note of the name Yassir.

and the du’a that we know that Prophet Musa alaihi salam said when commanded to speak to Firawn in Surah Taha 20: 25-26

the opposite of يسر is عسر which means difficulty. And you can see both of these words in Surah al Inshirah and Surah al lail.

About the hadith

Islam is simple and easy to follow. It guides mankind to the correct way of life.

Truly if we learn to worship Allah the way that Allah wants and the way that prophet sallallahu alaihi salam teaches, we will find our heart more at peace and is actually more easy Insya Allah.

Other religion may view that Islam  is difficult because we have to pray five times a day, fast, go for pilgrimage, wear hijab, grow beard, but we say to them most of the time their religion seems “easy” is because they have left what their religion told them anyway. To start with they are not on the path that Allah wants, and whatever they are following are not as what is being taught.

Then we look at some difficult religious practices that forces hitting themselves and self inflict pain themselves either for expiation of sins or required by their religion to attain higher level. This is for sure is not easy. Alhamdulillah our religion do not make us get into dirty rivers or surrender our children for hard labour or to be worshipped.

The requirement of our religion is always promoting cleanliness such as wudhu’, ghusl. Tawbah as expiation of sins. pain that is not self inflicted will expiate our sins, Insya Allah.

May Allah make it easy for us to worship Him.

Amalan Anak Salih : Menjauhi Amalan Bid’ah

This is fifth hadith in the small pocket book entitled AMALAN ANAK SALIH : Himpunan dan Terjemahan Baharuddin Ayudin. The book has collection of hadiths that children (and adults) can reflect upon.

The Book Pertaining to Judicial Decisions (Kitab Al-Aqdiyya)

Muslim :: Book 18 : Hadith 4266

‘A’isha reported Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: He who innovates things in our affairs for which there is no valid (reason) (commits sin) and these are to be rejected.

In one version by Muslim it reads:

قَالَ رَسُولُ الله  مَنْ عَمِلَ عَمَلاً لَيْسَ عَلَيْهِ أَمْرُنَا فَهُوَ رَدٌّ

“He who does a deed not in accordance with our matter – it will e rejected.”

Sahih Muslim and Bukhari

If any of you readers know the english version of this hadith, i do appreciate if you could relate it to me. I need the reference of this hadith and which Book it s collected in. Jazakummullahu Khairan. (Jazakillahhu Khair to Intan for linking me the forty hadith of Al Imam An Nawawi. May Allah reward you with good knowledge.)

Anyway, I discussed with H the lessons that we can get from this hadith.
1. To follow quraan and sunnah.
2. To stay away from bidaah.
3. Sometimes due to our shortcomings of not knowing what is bidaah, we must from now on strive to know what his sunnahs are. And Insya Allah to adhere to it. This stresses on the importance of seeking the right knowledge. Awareness is the first step to amendment.

May Allah guide us on the straight path. And May Allah accept our deeds.

Amalan Anak Salih :Berusaha Mempelajari Al Quran

This is third hadith in the small pocket book entitled AMALAN ANAK SALIH : Himpunan dan Terjemahan Baharuddin Ayudin. The book has collection of hadiths that children can reflect upon.

For the previous two hadith, do refer under the book section. I would appreciate if you can put in inputs on how do you reflect the hadith with your children.

Volume 6, Book 61, Number 545:
Book of the Virtues of the Quran

Narrated ‘Uthman r.a.:

The Prophet said, “The best among you (Muslims) are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it.”

H and I discussed to review where he is now in learning the Quran. I feel now we need to set objective and direction to how we go about in learning the Quran. the goal is so that he can teach.

I told him the least that you can teach are your own children.

We made a rough chart of progresses of learning the quran
Learning the letters
Knowing the meaning

Even in each progress there are sub progress you can make. Like for instance reciting can be divided according to the juzuks that he have read.

I would like to highlight on the fluency. It can be subjective though.

Memorisation can be made into charts so he can watch the number of surahs to go. Haziq is trying to memorise the Juzuk Amma. May Allah make it easy for him and May Allah allow him to retain his memory.

We could make a countdown of surahs to go. Having the surahs laid out in front can be a motivation.

S wants one too. Might as well I make one for Z. 😀

This link can be helpful for all of us. HERE.

The understanding of meaning part, I will try to share as much as I can with the kids. However I urge him, that this is the knowledge he needs to seek. I can only give him the surface of the meaning. The in depth, he needs to learn from the learned people. I pray that Allah guides my children to people who follow His straight path.

The children still has a long way to go but, Insya Allah we will work together so that they would have the spirit to spread the ilmu.

Book : Amalan Anak Salleh (Mencintai Rasullullah s.a.w.)

Mencintai Rasulullah s.a.w.

Riwayat Al Bukhari, Muslim, Al Nasaiy, Ibn Majah

Book  of Belief
Bukhari :: Book 1 :: Volume 2 :: Hadith 14

Narrated Anas:

The Prophet said “None of you will have faith till he loves me more than his father, his children and all mankind.”

This hadith tells us that we need to give our highest love to him above our parents, our children and the people we love. How do we love our prophet s.a.w.? By practicing what he teaches, believing in his message and staying away from the things that he did not do. We should strive to carry out his sunnah and stay away from things that he did not teach.

Insya Allah, this is what we will strive upon.

Then we pointed out the familiar arabic words such as

I have an interesting audio that you may like to listen. This is a lecture by Hussein Yee.  He is a daawah activist based in Malaysia. Reverting to Islam, he now does daawah all over the world, Masya Allah. He recently came over here. I think his lecture is apt for this entry.

Hmm I do not know how to upload audio into here. Perhaps this link would be helpful, Insya Allah. THE BEST GENERATIONS by HUSSEIN YEE

Book : Amalan Anak Salih

I am adding a new syllabus. WHile S is doing her jawi writing, I shall be reading a book with H. Something short and simple Insya Allah.

We are starting on this small pocket book Amalan Anak Yang Salih collected and translated by Baharuddin Ayudin. book published by Penerbitan Salafi.

This book contains collection of hadith targeted to nurture the children to love the deen, Insya Allah.

Due to my shortcoming, I can only translate the hadith as per the direct meaning. I pray to Allah, that He would give me the opportunity to learn more on this knowledge.

Rasullulah s.a.w bersabda : “ucapkanlah:’ Aku beriman dengan Allah.” Kemudian tetapkanlah pendirian.”

Haziq wrote down as this

This hadith tells us to believe in Allah and to be steadfast in believing Him.
