Tawheed

What is tawheed?

Tawheed means to single out Allah as the One and Only True God in our belief and in our worship.

There are steps to make us understand Tawheed.

__________________________

Do you believe that Allah ALONE is the only Lord (Rabb)?

Do you believe that Allah ALONE is the master of all that is in heavens and the earth and thus EVERYTHING that you can see and that you cannot see?

Do you believe that Allah is the creator?

And that He is the one and only One who provides the creation (food, water, shelter, health etc.)?

Do you think Allah requires partners to help help Him create all this and also maintain it?

And If you were to ask them: “Who has created the heavens and the earth and subjected the sun and the moon?” They will surely reply: “Allâh.” How then are they deviating (as polytheists and disbelievers)? (Al Ankabut 29: 61)

Almost everyone (except for those who do not believe in the existense of God (Atheist. may Allah protect us from this) believe that God does exist. The Jews believe in God. the Christians believe in God too.

Do you know that the Quraysh also believed in Allah? They know that Allah is the Creator. And he is the Rabb the one who provides for His servants.

Unlike them, we believe that Allah alone is the Rabb for all that in heavens and all in earth. And this we call TAWHEED Ar RUBBOBIYAH.

Tawheed Ar Ruboobiyah is also the belief that Aallah handles the affairs of His creation

– life

– death

– provide us food and health

Allah is with us in knowledge. he hears and sees us. He knows everything that is happening.

And with Him are the keys of the Ghaib (all that is hidden), none knows them but He. And He knows whatever there is in the land and in the sea; not a leaf falls, but he knows it. There is not a grain in the darkness of the earth nor anything fresh or dry, but is written in a Clear Record. (59)

Now, if you believe that Allah is the one who creates you, the one who nurtures you and provide you with food, with ability and health. And since He is the one who gives you life to begin with and the One who will also take away your life, is it not correct that he is the one that we should worship.

Should we not worship the Creator and not any of His Creation?

Does it make sense to worship stones and idols or sun or moon or people? When all of these require Allah to create it.

This is called Tawheed Al Ullohiyah or also known as Tawheed of Ibadah. It isthe belief that all kind of worship are directed to Allah alone.

And this is the major difference between the idolaters who believe in the existense of God, acknowledge that He is the Creator of things and have power above all but yet insist on worshiping other than Him.

Some worship idols because they see it as an intermediary between him and Allah. Alhamdulillah we do not need this for we know That Allah is Al baseer and He is As Samee’. He is the All seer and All Hearer. he knows we are worshiping him and asking from him alone and directly. We do not need any intermediary to help us send the message to Him.

We do not need priests to forgive our sins for we can pray to Allah directly. We can beg for Allah’s forgiveness and we know He is Ar Rahman and Ar Rahim. He is the Most Merciful. Why do we need to ask others to do it for us when we are sinning to our Creator. We ask forgiveness ourselves.

Tawheed Al Asma wa Sifaat

This tawheed is the belief in Allah’s Names and characteristics or attributes. Only as mentioned in the Quran and as described to us by His Mesenger salllallahu alaihi wasalam.

All Allah’s names are not comparable to His creation.

For example the attribute of hearing and seeing are attributes that we have, but they are limited unlike Allah’s. Allah’s hearing and seeing are perfect. he hears everthng that is in heavens and earth.

The more we know about Allah and His attrbute, the more we will love Him, and fear him and have hope in Him.

Do you know of any who is similar to Him? Maryam 19: 65.
